CodeBlueNow! is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, citizen‐formed organization that offers a place for the American public to find common ground and build consensus on health care reform. Its mission is to fix the health care system so it works for the American public and will do that by “creating strong public will for health system change by engaging the public in designing, shaping, and promoting a template for a new health care system.”
One of the ways CodeBlueNow! is building consensus is through a statistically‐tested tool called the Pulse®. The survey tool takes account of the current health care landscape, delivery systems, management and financing, and asks respondents to note their opinions. The Pulse® has been administered by the Gilmore Research firm to 601 Iowan respondents, so there is statistically valid data from Iowa on key principles and core elements they value. It is also available online at www.codebluenow.org. Citizens nationwide are also encouraged to add their voice by visiting the website and taking the CodeBlueNow! Pulse® online. The data gathered will be used to shape the design and function of a new health care system and to create a template for reform.
